the intervention.
for the last few months i've become increasingly more interested in the sub-genre of mumblecore. which, according to wikipedia, started in the early 2000's and is "primarily characterized by ultra-low budget production (often employing digital video cameras), focus on personal relationships between twenty-somethings, improvised scripts, and non-professional actors."
i find these flicks fascinating in their simplicity and how their stories naturally progress through the performances. the first filmmakers i found in this sub-genre (and probably my favorite) are the duplass brothers (the puffy chair). i recently bought their shorts on dvd and here's my favorite:

oc films.
the kind people over at ocfilms.com approached and asked me to feature two of my shorts on their site. i checked out the site and immediately accepted. despite the site being a new venture, it's chalk-full of awesome shorts by local artists.

321.
this past weekend i shot a short film that was apart of what's called a 321 project. the rules are simple: 3 pages, 2 characters, 1 location. for my project i decided to adapt an old twilight zone episode entitled "button, button" which is also being remade by richard kelly as "the box". here's a few production stills courtesy of cody peterson:

i'm a huge fan of vimeo (www.vimeo.com) and recently i've been exploring "la blogotheque" which is a small group of french filmmakers that create some pretty stunning of-the-moment music videos.
